ULPA Ultra-Low Penetration Air Filters
ULPA filters, also known as Ultra-Low Penetration Air Filters, are an upgraded version of traditional HEPA filters. They offer enhanced filtration performance, capable of removing 99.999% or more of particles with a diameter of 0.3 microns or larger. Compared to HEPA filters, ULPA filters feature a more compact filter media structure, higher filtration efficiency, larger surface area, and greater dust-holding capacity.
The filter element of a ULPA filter is typically made of ultra-fine glass fiber or synthetic fiber media. The media is bonded and folded, and enclosed in frames made from options such as plywood, galvanized steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloy. The components are tightly sealed with polyurethane adhesive, making the filter lightweight, highly breathable, dust-retentive, and resistant to high temperatures. ULPA filters are suitable for cleanroom environments ranging from Class 10,000 to Class 100, and are widely used in industries such as electronics, microelectronics, semiconductors, optical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceutical production lines, cameras and optical instruments, and precision machinery.
Based on the presence or absence of separators, ULPA filters can be classified into two types. Separatorless ULPA filters use the same filter media and incorporate hot-melt adhesive as spacers. Polyurethane sealant is applied to securely bond the filter components within the frame. Compared to traditional separator-type filters, separatorless models are more compact and lightweight under the same airflow conditions, while offering improved aesthetics.
